HOME DISCUSSION PROBLEMS & RESPONSE DETAILS LIES/HOAXES TIMELINE REFERENCES
Democrats and most of the media, which is strongly biased to the left, are trying to use the coronavirus pandemic to defeat President Trump in the 2020 election. They have repeatedly used hindsight, selective facts, lies and hoaxes to criticize and ridicule his handling of the virus. They give him no credit but instead search for and magnify every perceived flaw.
In fact Donald Trump has been saying and doing the right things related to the coronavirus for a long time. For years he’s talked about bringing manufacturing back to America and in particular that we’ve been too dependent on China for critical supplies.
After being elected, President Trump built an exceptionally strong economy via individual and corporate tax cuts, regulation reductions, and other initiatives such as Apprentice Programs and Opportunity zones. So when the coronavirus came along, the United States was as prepared as it could be economically thanks to President Trump.
With his experience and history of success, it’s no surprise that the president’s response to this unprecedented situation has been exceptional in spite of being hampered by several problems that weren’t his fault. These included a China cover up, a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) due to China hoarding and the Obama administration not replenishing N-95 face masks, and testing delayed by several weeks due to CDC mistakes and long-standing FDA regulations.
But in his response:
-He was ahead of Democrats, the media, and in many cases even the scientists and WHO in taking decisive actions to mitigate future problems. (When he initiated the China travel ban which clearly saved thousands of lives, Joe Biden called the action "hysterical xenophobia and fear mongering.”)
-He listened to the scientists when it was appropriate to do so.
-He slashed red tape quickly, eliminating outdated rules and bureaucracy around testing, treatments, telemedicine, and more to speed up our nationwide response to his standards.
-He got the federal government and private sectors working together as only someone with his business experience could.
-He invoked the Defense Production Act more than 30 times to ensure America has the supplies it needs.
***By slashing red tape and mobilizing federal and private resources, he launched an effort (Operation Warp Speed) to deliver diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines in record time.***
-He mobilized the military to help.
-Besides leading the country, the president assisted the states and major cities (and other countries) without trying to control them because their situations and problems were so varied.
-He specifically helped the American people with special emphasis on major groups: Working Americans, Businesses, Students/Children, Farmers, Native Americans, Veterans, Senior Citizens, and Uninsured Americans.
To minimize his accomplishments, Democrats and 90% of the media have attacked President Trump with several lies/hoaxes about what he has said and done. The following lies and hoaxes are rebutted on the LIES/HOAXES web page.
1. Trump Did Not Call the Virus a Hoax
2. Hydroxychloroquine Hoax
3. Mask Hoax
4. Allowing Scientists to Speak Hoax
5. UV Hoax
6. Lysol Hoax
7. Downplay Hoax
8. Ventilator Hoax
9. CDC Funding Hoax
10. Hindsight Hoaxes
a. Virus Leadership Hoax
b. Social Distancing Hoax
c. Testing Hoax
The president applied his 50 years of successful leadership experience to solving problems, making deals, and in general just getting things done. He and his administration have worked tirelessly to combat the coronavirus and provide economic relief to affected Americans. His handling of the virus has been exceptional considering the complexities of dealing with a 100 year pandemic.
President Trump should be reelected because:
1. He can’t be blamed for any health or economic problems because the virus caused those.
2. He’s demonstrated that he can improve America and the lives of Americans by applying his 50 years’ business experience—experience managing countless large projects through several economic downturns, negotiating with high level businessmen, making deals, solving problems, and basically just getting good at getting things done.
3. When the virus came along, he took decisive action early, doing things that no career politician would have done.
4. The economic effect was minimized because he had built such a strong economy with tax cuts and reduced regulation.
5. He’s the best choice to rebuild the economy because he’s demonstrated he can build an extremely strong economy better than anyone else.
6. In Jan 2021 he will have a year’s experience dealing with the pandemic and as Abraham Lincoln said, “Don’t change horses in midstream.”
INTRODUCTION
Democrats have been attacking Trump since he ran against Hillary Clinton. After he won the election, they have been obsessed with taking him down. Russian collusion and impeachment both failed. Now they are trying to use the coronavirus pandemic to defeat him in the 2020 election. They have repeatedly used hindsight, selective facts, lies and hoaxes to criticize and ridicule his handling of the virus.
MEDIA BIAS
Democrats have been supported by 90% of the media who backed Clinton and are biased against President Trump. This includes CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, TIME, NEWSWEEK, New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press, Huffington Post, NPR, upscale magazines, and most likely your local newspaper--98% of the top newspapers wanted Hillary Clinton to win.
The three major networks do not create the lies and hoaxes, but they are biased against Trump in what they report on and how they report it and don’t contradict any Democrat talking points.
The newspapers show their bias by selecting mostly biased articles from the liberal AP, Washington Post, and New York Times and by emphasizing anti Trump rhetoric and lies in the letters to the editor and op-eds, many of which are from the Washington Post, and New York Times.
If you get your news from any of these sources, you have been misled about Donald Trump because of their left-leaning bias. Before you can understand the truth about Trump’s handling of the coronavirus, you must understand and accept the truth about the bias of your news sources.
Mark Crispin Miller, a professor of media studies at NYU, who has written several books advocating democratic media reform said, “Media manipulation in the U.S. today is more efficient than it was in Nazi Germany, because here we have the pretense that we are getting all the information we want. That misconception prevents people from even looking for the truth.”
In this May 2020 article

Van Gordon Sauter, former President of CBS news says:
“The highly influential daily newspapers in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Boston are now decidedly liberal. On the home screen, the three broadcast network divisions still have their liberal tilt. Two (CNN and MSNBC) of the three (FOX is the third) leading cable news sources are unrelentingly liberal in their fear and loathing of President Trump.
News organizations that claim to be neutral have long been creeping leftward, and their loathing of Mr. Trump has accelerated the pace. The news media is catching up with the liberalism of the professoriate, the entertainment industry, upscale magazines and the literary world. Recent arrivals are the late-night TV hosts who have broken the boundaries of what was considered acceptable political humor for networks.
To many journalists, objectivity, balance and fairness—once the gold standard of reporting—are not mandatory in a divided political era and in a country they believe to be severely flawed.”
Here’s an article on media liberal bias specifically about their coverage of the coronavirus that discusses how “their ineptitude, bias, childishness, and outright stupidity have become a genuine danger to the health of the republic.” It gives examples of how from the start of the coronavirus press briefings, “the ostensibly serious press often focused on frivolous gotchas rather than pertinent questions.”

Sauter mentions the “liberalism of the professoriate.” Academia has a strong left bias. This link states that in 2016 the ratio of liberal to conservative professors was 28:1 in New England and 6:1 nationally.

This link

states that 39% of 51 top-ranked liberal arts colleges have zero registered Republicans on their faculties. In the 51 communications departments (where journalists are trained) there are 108 Democrats and zero Republicans.

TRUMP’S HANDLING OF THE VIRUS
Once you realize that 90% of mainstream media news sources are biased against President Trump, it’s easy to understand why they give him no credit but instead search for and magnify every perceived flaw.
In fact Donald Trump has been saying and doing the right things related to the coronavirus for a long time.
For years he’s talked about bringing manufacturing back to America and in particular that we’ve been too dependent on China for critical supplies. “Trump told us even from the beginning of his 2016 run that our dependence on China was reaching dangerous levels and we needed to return to a time when we didn’t depend on them for so much.”
The pandemic has highlighted that China supplies 70-90% of many of our important drugs, and that could leave Americans dangerously short of medicines in the event of a war, trade conflict or pandemic.

After being elected, President Trump built an exceptionally strong economy via individual and corporate tax cuts, regulation reductions, and other initiatives such as Apprentice Programs and Opportunity zones. These are some of President Trump’s accomplishments prior to the virus:
--The lowest unemployment rate in 50 years
--Wages growing at their fastest rate in a decade
--Real disposable personal income per household had increased $5,205 since the passage of the tax cuts
--7 million Americans had been lifted off of food stamps and over 2.4 million Americans had been lifted out of poverty
--Apprenticeship programs had been expanded, helping Americans gain hands-on training and experience with no student debt. Under his leadership over 660,000 apprentices had been hired across the country
--Over 370 companies had signed the President’s “Pledge to America’s Workers,” pledging to provide more than 14.4 million employment and training opportunities.
--More than 6 million American workers had received wage increases, bonuses, and increased benefits due to the tax cuts
--Corporations had brought $1 trillion back into the country from overseas
--More than 8,760 communities in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and 5 Territories had been designated as Opportunity Zones. The White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council had taken more than 175 actions to encourage investment and promote growth within these areas. (Every Democrat voted against the bill that included the opportunity zone provision.)
Former President Obama deserves no credit for the strong economy. To credit or blame a president for something that happens during that president’s time in office, there must be a causal link between that president’s actions and the thing that happened. There is no causal link between any of Obama’s actions and the recovery from the great recession. The recovery started under President Bush with saving the banking system and a giant bailout bill and was primarily due to numerous Federal Reserve programs 2007-2014 including cutting interest rates from 4% to 0% and $4 trillion created out of thin air (QE). So when the coronavirus came along the United States was as prepared as it could be economically thanks to President Trump. On March 27 Wells Fargo senior bank analyst said on CNBC, "Banks came into this recession with stronger balance sheets than any other time before a recession in the last half century." https://twitter.com/SquawkCNBC/status/1243507044490985473?s=20
Imagine if the economy had been weak early in March of 2020 when the coronavirus began taking its economic toll.
Furthermore, the country was fortunate to have a leader with three recent years of running the country and 50 years’ experience managing countless large projects through several economic downturns, negotiating with high level businessmen, making deals, and basically just getting better and better at solving problems and getting things done.
With his experience and history of success, it’s no surprise that the President’s response to this unprecedented situation has been exceptional in spite of being hampered by several problems that weren’t his fault.
(Details and proof at the Problems & Response Details web page.)
He had to deal with:
-A China cover up aided by the World Health Organization (WHO).
-A shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) due to China hoarding and the Obama administration not replenishing N-95 face masks after they were depleted by several crises.
- Testing delayed by several weeks due to CDC mistakes and long-standing FDA regulations.
But in his response:
-He was ahead of Democrats, the media, and in many cases even the scientists and WHO in taking decisive actions to mitigate future problems.
1. Trump Did Not Call the Virus a Hoax--He said the Democrats and their media supporters would create a new hoax by lying about his handling of the virus, which they did.
2. Hydroxychloroquine Hoax--It was not unreasonable for President Trump to suggest that hydroxychloroquine may be beneficial. Hundreds of doctors agree and have used it successfully.
3. Mask Hoax--If the president has been inconsistent in guidance related to wearing a mask it is because the scientists have been inconsistent. In February and March both the Surgeon General and Dr. Fauci advised against wearing masks.
4. Allowing Scientists to Speak Hoax--A video clip shows Dr. Fauci saying he had not been "muzzled" by the administration as Democrats had claimed.
5. UV Hoax--It was not unreasonable for the President to ask if their were some way to inject ultraviolet light into the lungs. (In fact such a device exists.)
6. Lysol Hoax--The president did not suggest injecting or ingesting Lysol as Democrats and their media supporters claimed.
7. Downplay Hoax--As all good leaders do, the president did not panic the public with worst case scenarios based on prediction models. On September 9 Dr. Fauci said ""I didn't see any discrepancies between what we told [Trump] and what he told the public”...I didn't get any sense that he was distorting anything."
8. Ventilator Hoax--Jared Kushner did not claim that the federal government wouldn't share the federal stockpile of ventilators.
9. CDC Funding Hoax--The President did not "cut the funding to the CDC" as several Democrats claimed.
10. Hindsight Hoaxes--The Democrats and their media supporters have used hindsight to criticize the president. It’s always possible to criticize with hindsight, especially something as unexpected and complicated as a 100-year pandemic.
a. Virus Leadership Hoax--the president did not get rid of a pandemic response position on the National Security Council as several Democrats have claimed.
b. Social Distancing Hoax--It was completely unreasonable for the White House to issue initial social distancing guidelines, including closing schools and avoiding groups of more than 10, two weeks earlier than it did.
c. Testing Hoax--Contrary to Joe Biden's false claims, the Trump administration did not refuse WHO test kits and did have test kit as of March 1. Furthermore, testing problems were entirely the fault of the CDC and long-standing FDA regulations.
The Bottom Line
The President applied his 50 years of successful leadership experience to solving problems, making deals, and in general just getting things done. He and his administration have worked tirelessly to combat the coronavirus and provide economic relief to affected Americans. His handling of the virus has been exceptional considering the complexities of dealing with a 100 year pandemic. Meanwhile, Democrats and their media cohorts have tried to use the coronavirus issues to defeat the President in the 2020 election via hindsight, selective facts, lies and hoaxes.
Looking Forward
President Trump should be reelected because:
1. The president can’t be blamed for any health or economic problems because the virus caused those.
